Pastor Mike Smith
GREETINGS HUMC!
I have been in ministry for 25 years and have been appointed to serve three churches and spent the last twelve years a chaplain for hospice. The churches I served were Waynedale UMC. in Fort Wayne, Poneto UMC. in Southern Wells County and Faith Chapel UMC. in Huntington County. I also served St. Mark’s UMC in Decatur part-time while I was with hospice. Currently I am serving Norris Chapel half-time and soon will be serving Hamilton half-time as well. I am married to my high school sweetheart Linda and we have been married for 45 years and have two daughters and two grandsons. Our daughters are both married and live in the Indianapolis area. I was a meat cutter for many years before I was called by God to become a pastor and was a part owned of a business in Fort Wayne. My interest is artistic such as designing and building stained glass window which I have been doing for over 30 years. I also enjoy remodeling our home, gardening and anything else which will allow me to be outside. At some point you may think you are seeing double as I have an identical twin brother who lives in Fort Wayne. We are considered mirror twins as he is lefthanded and I am righthanded. We go to the Twinsburg Twins Festival in Twinsburg Ohio every year where there are over 2400 sets of twins from all over world who gather the first week in of August. Linda am I are very excited to have been appointed to Hamilton UMC. and look forward to being in ministry with the church and community.

Lay Committees
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
– Hebrews 6:10
For a church to function effectively and efficiently it requires the members of the congregation to give of their time, talents and spiritual gifts. Hamilton UMC is blessed to have excellent leadership that works together for the good of the church and the glory of God. The following is a brief explanation of the responsibilities of each committee and their respective leaders. If you have an interest in joining or contributing to any particular group please contact the head of that committee.
Finance Chair and Lay Leader: Dennis Germann
The Lay Leader is the primary spokesperson for the congregation. This person meets regularly with the pastor to discuss the state of the church and the changing needs of ministry. The Lay Leader has an active role in Church Council, Staff-Parrish, Finance and the Nominations Committee as well as representing laity at Annual Conference.

Finance Treasurer: Leora Johnson
This committee is responsible for managing the financial resources of the church. They are in charge of creating an annual budget for Church Council approval, finding creative ways to generate resources and foster a sense of generous tithing within the congregation. Meetings are the second Thursday of every other month at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials
At the loss of a loved one, the Memorial Committee sends condolences from the church family to those affected. After the service, all memorials are acknowledged. The Committee then acts as a liaison to ensure the wishes of the bereaved and the needs of the church are coordinated.
